If the alignment comes from a discretized polyline, that slows down the analysis. It is convenient to use an alignment defined from lines, arcs and spirals, so that the analysis is faster.
It also helps that the alignment has as few elements as possible. If you have the complete alignment of the road, it is better to use only the part that corresponds to the tunnel.
