The recommended process is as follows:

1. Within the Surveying > Import command, verify that the correct format has been selected. Check with the Details button that it is the same type of file.

2. Check if there are configurable parameters if the More Parameters button is activated.

3. Check the method for differentiating points from stations with the Configure button in the same dialog.

Finally, if with all the previous checks the conversion is still incorrect, send the original file to our support department.

The stations and points of my survey are not distinguished correctly

How do you define a traverse?

There are two ways to define it:

1. Within the Surveying > Station Calculation command dialog, click the Traverse button, define the observations order and check the Set Source, Set Destination and Closed boxes, as appropriate.

2. Draw the station observations, and with the Station Calculation or Surveying > Traverse commands, press the Select button and choose the stations in the correct sequence.

It is necessary to have previously defined the correct ellipsoid and zone in the survey properties (Surveying> Survey command). The commands Coordinate Systems > Transformations> Planar to Projected and Projected to Planar can then be used.

Another possibility is to carry out a coordinate transformation (for example, Helmert 3D or seven parameters), indicating known points both in planar and projected coordinates.

What corrections need to be activated?

It depends on the type of project. The most important thing is to decide whether to work in planar or projected coordinates, and then not duplicate the corrections already applied by the total station. For example, if the total station already considers corrections for sphericity and refraction, they should not be activated in MDT.

What is the difference between stations and points?

The stations correspond to positioning of a total station or a GNSS, and are normally used for stakeout or for certain calculations within the Surveying module.

There are commands to convert points to stations and stations to points in the Stations menu.

What is the scale at the stations for?

The anamorphosis or scale of the stations is applied as a factor to the distances of all the points measured from said base. In addition, in stake out the distances are divided by this value.

How can stations be entered from their longitude and latitude?

It is necessary to have the Surveying module.

First, the ellipsoid and zone zone must be selected, through the Surveying > Properties command, setting the Coordinate System to Projected and pressing the Details button.

The Coordinate Systems > Projected to Planar command must then be executed. The program will request the latitude, longitude and elevation of the points to be converted, or the name of a file.

The projected coordinate bases will then be created, which can be drawn with the command Surveying> Draw> Draw Stations. From this moment they can be used in any option of the program.
